User Guide - Bank Account Fractional Routing Number
This guide reviews the functionality of the bank fractional number in Smartwebs.
A bank fractional number, also known as a fractional routing number, is a shorter version of a bank’s full routing number. It is typically found on paper checks and is used to help financial institutions process payments.
A fractional number is usually formatted as XX-YYY/XXXX
Where:
- XX = Prefix representing the Federal Reserve District.
- YYY = The institution identifier (sometimes related to the bank’s state or region).
- ZZZZ = The bank’s actual routing number.
It's usually found in the upper right corner of a paper check and used in manual check verification when the MICR routing number is unavailable.
- You'll set this per bank branch in the Bank Account Setup Page (Accounting > Settings > Bank Account Setup)
- Click Options

- Select Edit

- Enter the Bank Fraction and Click Save.
The bank fractional number will show on the printed check.
